Initial reports stated STVU-LAN cable boxes had 1 year life span
Whether they will re-connect your box to server for a fee or you
will have to buy new box time will tell

Is it confirmed that there is a 'set period' you will have access to the server using the sv hd combo? How would they know when you bought the box etc. Also does updating the software make a difference to the 'set period'?

There has been nothing official on the Kryptview or Starview. I was told initially that Kryptview was 14 Months and Starview was indefinite. The Kryptview supporters on forums have said that their server is indefinite and Starview is limited. Of course there is no telling if VM will issue a countermeasure.

Why would you pay ?160 for a used box when you could buy the
same box brand new for under ?200. Did you wonder why seller
put box up for sale, he could have it for 11 months. You should
really have asked questions before you bought this box.
You could be lucky, if seller didn't connect box to internet you
will get 12 months before it expires

M8 if your box was server activated last May thats giving you approx 6 months from now before it goes off. May being the approx date for initial c/s trials. All this talk of 1 year subscription to the server is hearsay and most probably when yours goes off everyone elses will too. (server shut down)
Any SV with a lan socket and cable tuner will be supported until then !!
Once upon a time it was all about backdoor 0 passwords, now its only about the rsa keys !!!!!!!

just to add to the above post as said only the cable side, the sat side will keep on going if you hook up to another c/s server which we cant go into.

Scroll thru Starview threads on this forum, there's a link to
latest firmware Carling F_528 on 24/Nov.
If you have been using box thru LAN for 12 months your server
account may have expired, or cable Prov. could be down.
Have you tried re-booting router & box

There server should have a mac address expire time period demanding on how they have set the server up, I would have done it so the lease time began under first connection!

And guys u couldn't have bought a box in may they wer not available then

Starview Combo best selling box at the moment.
                              Starview 7 not far behind.
Starview 9600 slow to take off but getting good reviews all round on the sat scene since the ccam issue was sorted.
Combo and 9600 are as good as having the genuine box in front of you. Are they going to start dropping boxes of the server after 12 months. Highly unlikely.....That would be commercial suicide..... Hearsay and rumors.
