Starview 7 PVR - How does it work!

Hi, I may be being dumb but I cannot get anything to play back on the SV7 PVR. I have recorded stuff, it is there on the HDD (FAT32), both the .idx and .ts files, but nothing works to play it. I have tried the play button, the OK button (well every button)
Has anyone had any joy with it, if so how do you get yours to play.
I am on carling 1.03, it is formatted to FAT32, and the disc is recognised etc.
    Thanks in advance.

I have an SV6 and gave up trying to use the recording function a long time ago. It's useless.

What actually happens when you press play?
Once upon a time it was all about backdoor 0 passwords, now its only about the rsa keys !!!!!!!

Its got to be your usb drive. If its a stick type try to get a Lexar. Some of the cheapies just wont work at all. Or pay a bit more and get a usb portable hard drive. It works m8 and absolutely perfect.

Hi i have the same problems as all the above "Lorddayus" ...recording is visible on the usb via the starview 7 box but cannot get it to play with the box. i have tried a different remote and that was the same. I have also tried three different types of memory:
wd 500gb powered external drive, samsung 160gb external usb powered drive and an 8gb memory stick. All resulting in the same. no playback. I can watch the recordings on a pc/laptop using a free GOM player but ideally it would suit to run direct from the box.

I must disagree with you!,I have tried various makes of usb sticks,
various ext HDD,s and nothing works, only can watch it on a PC,
                  but saying that,it records well.

Hi, I have just had some from lincsat. Once you have recorded something, dont go into the Options menu, just press the play button on the remote from the main viewing screen, a box will appear with the files on then use the up and down arrows to select the movie file (a reel) and press OK.

                    It works like a dream!

Cheers Lord Dayus. I am using an Integral 8gb memory stick and tried every button on the remote.
You are correct, if you press the play button when viewing any other channel then scroll down to the file of your choice playback works fine.
