hi all,

i have read through all of the pages on this thread and i am looking at purchasing the new starview box 7 as my starview boxes 2 and 4 are now dead

i was thinking of buying this box

due to being a newbie and reading all the info i can get from this forum. if i were to buy this box can i install the new firmware (version 1.04 downloaded) following these instructions and it might work? do i need to do anything else before installing the new firmware?

INSTRUCTIONS:
option 1
put it on stick, load on to box, dont do factory reset, go to ss1, type in 1819, it should be working, make sure lan connectiion is in, thats how i done mine and its going fine, hope this helps

option 2
after upload of new firmware via pen drive,do channel search,go to ss1,see scramble,press 1819 on remote,see enable,press ok,your on

option 3
1. Copy the file to your USB pen drive
2. Install
3. Restart
4. Do a factory reset
5. Scan for channels in your area
6. When channel scan completes go to a channel and type 1819
7. Wait a few minutes and connection should be established

i hope someone can let me know if i have missed anything off or of anything else i need to do when i buy the box before installing the new firmware.

Thanx, my box went off middle of Feb and the guy who supplied the box has disappeared also.......I'll try this to see whether I can get it up & running

what is the correct way to upload firmware to the starview 7 ,
is it s/w upgrade or the boot upgrade? also is it necessary to have the bow connected to the broadband router .

S/W woked for me and wasnt connected after it upgraded i connected it to modem an did a full scan

Hi, so I'm reading along here and I'm pretty sure I understand what I need to do to upgrade my sv7; the only thing that gets me a little stumped is where it states "Scan for channels in your area" I don't want to get half way through and have gone totally wrong so it would be great if someone could help me out here, how would I know what my area code will be? Thanks.

yip install from sw update will do auto update then do fact reset power down reboot then channel scan
