    starview 7 to computer

I currently have a pc in my room that recieves broadband (Virgin) via a belkin reciever. The speed is very good. It has an inbuilt password so when switched on the pc autoconnects.
If i want to link my Pc to thestarview 7 are there any problems. i am looking at this being through the ethernet wire

I take it that i need to have my pc on all times i wish to watch the channels.e.g if i need to record something overnight the pc is on also.

    Thanks for any help

Should be OK, think you need X-over LAN-cable

The belkin in my room is only the reciever element and that goes into the computer. that picks the internet up. Yes iu am guessing that i could take this off the computer and put it into the starview but i want to use the computer and starview at the same time. thus can you just link the starview and the computer in anyway so i can pick up the internet in that manner. I know i can buy a dongle just wanted to know if i had to

            X-over is a cross-over LAN-cable. You can use regular(steaight)
LAN-cable from router to box, but you need X-over LAN-cable
to connect from laptop to box

Yes you need X-over if not connecting direct from a router. Try
the regular LAN-cable, but it should not work
