starview 3, 8.02e does not work

hi to all, im a newbie to all this, i have tried to download the latest 8.02e software to my starview 3 box, from what i have read i have the correct cable for connecting the box to my pc, but every time i try to download the software it just says fail, could somebody tell me what im doing wrong its driving me crazy, many thanks in advance

anyone tell me the where to get the correct cable for TheBox to connect to pc.
does this make a difference other than maual key input though keys keep changing and sometimes they last a few hours another time like todays keys i cant get nothing, is this normal. any help guys

Mine is working and am using the same software -

you need to change the port on the software - then it will work

I cant find the firmware for the update and this website wont allow me to download??

If your box has gone blank after flashing the latest bin files then this is what you need to do.

1. Get GTrom v4.03 loader
2. Get the"thebox_logobg" bin file
3. Open the loader select background data file
4. click on BIN, select the "thebox_logobg" file.
5. Click download
6. Your box will work again.

The reason this is happening is because you are upgrading from ver4.51 to the latest file. In between these updates the was another update that required you to install the background data file. Those who upgrade from 4.54 will not be affected.

Thanks so much lads my box is up and working. Bought a cable off the net which arrived in a couple of days and followed the threads listed. Didn't start right away though I had to turn EMU on and turned to Sk/Sports 1 which said it was updating and then hey presto

But this thread is discussing the Starview 3 (The Box Super) flash v8.02e.....you're on about the Starview 2 (The Box) flash of the same name - the one that requires a later version firmware on the box than 4.51, and that comes in a pack.

LOL...this is why I thought it a bad idea for the author of the SV2 fix to name it 8.02e. I seen this confusion coming.

if you buy one from maplins,doubly check its a null modem cable and not an rs232 serial cable.they look exactly the same but the one i got from maplins does not work

Sorry mate, Can you please tell me where to find the bin files? All I got from the download section is just the loader. Or is that all I need to flash the box. My API version that on the box is 4.54e-E and its a Starview 3. Please help. Thanks
