Any one help an OAP starview 1

Has any one any info on when the update for a star view 1 may be sorted?, if none is available, I may need to buy my Granddad a new box for Christmas.

    Thanks

at the moment its unlikely unless one person comes back and does it ( sunny )

so I would think its a no no unless you see it happen , an arnet kryptview or a newer sv3 or sv4 may be a better option as there could be a fix in time and then another hit takes place and its waiting time again

as far as I can gather there will be no more updates for the Starview 1 so i've now gone for a Kryptview box and upto now would recommend it. I've decided to go for this as this was one of the first boxes to be running again after the hit at the end of last month. The Kryptview was also the best on price, and it automatically sorts all the channels into the same order as your provider would (no messing about arranging channels unlike Starview). I've now also decided to leave Starviews well alone as the Starview 1 was sold right up until the middle of this year and now they seem to have suddenly stopped all support for this box (nothing to stop them doing this with Starview 3 & 4 in 12 months time. My friend only bought a Starview 1 in July this year and effectively now has a doorstop as he's not the most technical minded of people and isn't too sure about updating keys manually. Manual Key changes are also no good as I was watching the Man U Man City Derby last week and the keys were rolled part way into the second half, by the time they were on the net the match had finished!

Wasnt aware traders were still selling s`view 1 up until the middle of this year. Are these clones? S`view manufacturers stopped making them a good few years back. Feel genuinely sorry for punters who have bought an sv1 but there wont be any official support that stopped a while ago.

Sunrise brought out the last couple of releases for almost every box.

There are a few guys working very hard on a fix for the s`view off their own backs. Whether they crack it time will tell.

There is a fix out (not official in terms of makers fix) already but unless you know a trader you wont get access to it - it is not for public release. That is not uncommon in this game.

There are no guarantees that your box will last forever. Manual key input takes 30 seconds but appreciate for some they wont even be aware of this.

If you intend investing in another box - and now for many you have felt it necessary to join a forum and learn a little purchase an open source box like a dreambox. No guarantees but significantly better in terms of support.

              R U Serious?

If this is true then why would the information not be available by now? Surely all the traders in the "know" can't have formed some kind of trade union/magic circle type pact to protect a ?30 a flash software fix? If they have then I implore any member who can to break the tyranny and publish the info without further delay. If not then thanks for getting my blood boiling at such an early hour on a Sunday morning - it makes a change (which is as good as a rest apparently). Hope to here from members soon until then the quest for a sv1 fix continues - cheers everyone.

There has been a fix developed for the SV1 box by a guru known as SunRise. He wants the public to learn and do it for themselves. He has given people pointers where to being and which way to go, apart from the complete solution.

He may decide to release the fix this time, if more public get involved in making the effort to learn or at least try to fix it for themselves rather than downloading it or paying a trader to fix it.

Perhaps maybe this Sunrise can start a tutorial then maybe we can all have a dig at fixing our own boxes?

New to this malarky, got the old St'rview 1 box but fed up now trying to find new fix. Can you recommend a new box to replace the old one

Go For Arnet Kryptview! I've really gone off starviews now after this and there are so many clone starviews about which are unreliable and can be hard to find support for, so I would recommend the kryptview. I've only had my kryptview about a week but found it better than the starview I was using. The picture seems better, EPG is far better, and the thing I like is the kryptview arranges your channels in the same order as the provider would, no messing around like with the starviews.

                            Starview 1

I have found an update for this but there is confusion about different updates for 'The BOX' and original Starview, so still investigating until taking the plunge.
