Mac address

Hi can someone let me know if the MAC address of your box SV or Ky has to be registered on the sever to allow you to receive the channels that you require if this the case I am correct in thinking that the dealer must have pre-programmed the sever to allow you to connect to it ,if not what is to stop you from configuring your box for a static IP address providing that you know what IP address and sub-net mask to use

i assume the first time you connect to the network the mac address is registered with the server and then your clock starts on the sv for the 12 months.
so the seller/supplier doesnt have to register the mac as each box has a unique mac which auto registers when first connected.
the server might even issue the box with a valid 12 month mac but im not sure of that.
either way sv doesnt work as the uploaders have been taken by plod.
one has to thank god i bought a combo rather than just a sv7 as i was going too at first....
its so nice to have every channel and all the hd ones too.

Thanks Dave I did have a SV6 and as such I could not find the 12 month bit anywhere on the box as for plod yes I did know just wondering how it worked
