That ad was after the price drop. Original price was ?125 for 16k or ?175 for 48k. For the first year there were plenty of 16k games but over time 48k became a necessity. You had the choice of a RAM pack which attached at the back and tended to crash at any time or buy the chips and plug them into the motherboard.

I actually started out in the industry upgrading spectrums and replacing keyboard membranes.

Ok Shady, before the common or garden internet there was Cix and Compuserve... slower than you can imagine.
As for Sky I had an Amstrad receiver and a Thompson decoder. That was before BSB and the Marcopolo satellites which were moved when BSB went bust and became Thor1 and Sirius1...
On top of that before beta and VHS I had some Philips piece of sh*t I'll try find one soon

Were you aware that Sky started as a cable company in March 1984?
There are areas of our town that still have the cables installed, not that they have worked in the last 20 odd years

When I was about 12, circa 1991, Brother Hobgoblin acquired this top of the range delight which I promptly confiscated.
