of course soon, i upgraded to 128k via bt and they installed this monster
it had three telephone lines,
1 for phone calls
and 2 64kbps capable idsn lines.. u could use one for 64k or BOTH for an astounding 128k
on the very same day this was installed, i had this ?100 baby delivered
the amstrad emailer
it had downloadable ringtones, speccy games, email and sort of web access all on dial up and all costing a ~~~~ing bomb
also as i recollect, the user manual stated something along the lines of 'you have NO hope of using this item without reading this manual'

That'll be the Philips V2000 system of the late 70's early 80's?
There is a slim chance it was the UMAX system but that wasn't marketed at home users - plus it was shite.
There is an even slimmer chance that you are referring to the original Philips VCR format, but no one is that old on here.
IIRC the original VCR was partially made of wood, but it was ground-breaking for it's time as it allowed timed recordings.
