    scooter insurance problem

    Hi all

Just got home from work and the wife gives me a recorded delivery envelope from Dial Direct insurance stating they have cancelled my insurance due to the fact that I have not sent details of my basic training certificate, Its dated 12/05/11 and they are giving me 7 days notice then it says your policy will end on 10/05/11

The scooter is 50cc so as a car license holder I thought I do not need any basic training, also I have had scooter insurance for 4 years two with Dial Direct (separate years) with no hassle.

So now Im out of ticket and cant ride my bike, they even said return policy documents in pre paid envelope (no envelope)

Any comments appreciated or links to complaints etc.

let this be a warning of dealing with these cowboys

if you passed your test before 1997 then would agree with you, if after 1997 - doubt it.

keep the envlope with them dates on it.

call the company, ask for name of person your speaking to, only hound and talk to that person about the matter.

would start with dvla first, then try asking the pigs, BUT DON'T TELL THE PIGS YOUR NAME ETC, incase hey do you for driving with no cbt etc etc.

    OFF TOPIC:-

Assuming you passed your test before 1997 - you can tow a trailer, driver a 7.5 ton lorry and *THINK* you can drive a steam roller still, so why can't you ride a moped?

Just check the old GOV webshite. Pre 1996 drivers license has entitlement to drive a motorcycle with or without sidecar, with a maximum design speed exceeding 50 km/h or with an engine capacity over 50 cc (Cat A on license)

I'd be giving them hell on the phone.

As others have said, after 1997 you need to pass a CBT even for a moped.
