    Well done Betty Britain

    I never thought I'd see it.

    The Queen laying a wreath in the 'Garden of Rememberance' in Dublin.

    Paying respect to the fallen Republicans who died fighting British forces.

    Was quite surreal to hear the band strike up 'God Save the Queen' too.

    I know that tensions run high on this topic, but if people want to protest about the Ireland/UK situation then they should be taking it up with David Cameron, not the Queen.

    Leave wee Betty alone.

    Aye witchy, didn't think I'd see it in my time on this earth either. But, like it or no, that was history in the making today.

        i hope she will pardon the 26 IRISH who suffered execution in WW1, for shell shock, when she goes to the first world war memorial in dublin tomorrow, their family have being hanging for 96 years now, to clear their names, that would be so nice,and only she can do it,,

          An apologetic speach for the past on behalf of Britain wouldn't go amiss to..

              It's a start mate, let's leave it at that.

              ~~~~, if Britain had to start apologizing for shit we've done over the centuries to other countries, we'd be here all night.
              If you know your Irish history, and I'm sure many many of us do, then you'll realise how significant today was.
                Im sure we wont hear any apology from Her Majesty but expect her to express her sadness about past events and how this is the time to build bridges and move on to a brighter relationship between the UK and ROI. If any sort of apology should arise it would come from David Cameron.
                  Aye, I hear what you're saying... Isn't going to happen. a) Where would she start? and b) It prob' should come from the UK PM (if at all).
                  Talking of the UK government.. The files on the bombings would be a nice gesture. It would show more openess between the two countries and if there were any fingers to be pointed so be it. The two countries people could move on from there - like what's happened after the bloody sunday enquiry. Was listening to William Hague on the radio today, it looks like that wont happen. A missed opportunity??
