Class Five Dwarfs dont supernova
They burn up all their hydrogen (takes roughly 10billion years) then begin to slowly expand as the core shrinks till the pressure causes temperatures great enough to burn Helium.
As the core shrinks it will lose mass by emitting Carbon and the planets will drift outward.
So although the radius of the suns surface will reach Mars engulfing everything in its path, due to the loss of mass its gravity will lessen and earth will either wind up outside the incineration radius... or become engulfed.
even if it winds up outside the radius the sun will be burning hot enough to boil off all the water and atmosphere anyway, so whichever way you look at it the earth is screwed.
5billion years is a rough guideline, after the Hydrogen cycle ends there will still be a short window, say half a million years before people really need to panic.

Exactly what I was trying to say top post mate I watch all the documentaries on these subjects but the old grey matter just doesn't absorb stuff like it used to.

The world faces all manner of annihilation every single day. Were it not for heroes like me preventing it and vanquishing all manner of demons and intergalactic threats, then you would all be toast.
We don't seek headlines or thank yous which is just as well because we don't get even the slightest of thumbs up from any of you ~~~~ers.
We do it for the good of mankind and, also, because there's ~~~~ all good on telly.
