nicole is the party in a hotel, a club or what? it might work out cheaper for your family to hire a caterer, by the time they pay retail prices for the food and buy paper plates, napkins etc, the caterer could work out just as cheap. so if it is in a hotel or club find out what caterer they usually use or recommend and have a chat with them about prices and stuff.

We cater for 100+ event often.
First question is your location, if it is a pub or club its unlikely they will allow outside food in. If its not then do you have facilities to heat food up, how far will be bringing the food from.
Next question is the budget (inc tableware) and what type of food. If you are doing hot food then do you have to cater to veggies.Comment

One tip from me , and its good advice.
if there is 100 people going, then cater for 70
people always over do portions, and lots of food will be wasted.
here is a few items i would recommend.
first go to Asda and and get a few of the sandwich fillers ( coronation chicken, cheese savory, egg savory, and tuna )
get 4 loaves of bread ( 2 white, 2 brown ) butter all the slices and cut the crusts off them all, and put on the sandwich fillers and cut into triangles , and put on paper plates and seal with stretch and seal.
2 of bowls of peanuts
4 bowls of crisps ( cheese and plain salted )
2 plates of sausage rolls
2 plates full of chicken wings ( 1 plain, 1 spicey )
4 whole pies,(about 12" in diameter ones, cut into portion sizes), ( get 2 mince and onion, 2 steak )
get about 24 buns, slice through the middle of them, butter them and put on a slice of ham, put some with tomato, and some just ham, and some with pease pudding.
2 packs of cheese, cut into 1/2" size pieces and put in 2 bowls
1 big jar of pickled onions, put in a bowl.
3 or 4 pizzas, slice into portion sizes and eat cold.
get a large bowl of a salad mixture, some people might be on a diet,
I normally make a big bowl of Chilli, and take this to the place when hot, so its warmish to eat when buffet opens. if you take chilli, make some rice to go with it.
if you want to make it look good, get some parsley and put on most of the plates
also a nice platter of cold meats ( folded ), like different hams, turkey, chicken)
Make sure all the bowls, plates are paper throw away ones, and any knives / forks are plastic.
That should be enough for your guests m8, and i bet there is loads left over.
