    Dennis Wheatley

The author Dennis Wheatley who passed away circa 1977 was a writer of fiction in the occult and satanism.
While I read most of his books at the time (some turned into movies-The Devil Rides Out) I am wondering would anyone on here know of a present day writer in the same category?

Val McDermid - Trick of the Dark

val mcdermid very boring and totally overated the only thing that came through to me when reading the book is that the writer was a big butch lesbian and the ending was as predictable as the drums at the end of eastenders

is every film and book nowadays just regurgitated 5hite thats been done before

put me off reading now for another 25 years treasure island was much better

I've not read any of DW's work, but I do like to read.

My favorite author is Brian Lumley. I've re-read his books so many times yet still enjoy every chapter. Most of his books revolve around people gifted with ESP's & Vampires, although there are other themes, his Dream World & Titus Crow series of books were inspired by HP Lovecraft.

Just found out he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Horror Writers Association last year.

The Necroscope & Vampire World series are my favorites. That includes the Lost Years (Necroscope - The lost years) & E-Branch books (these follow on from the Vampire World series)

Copied this list from brianlumley.com, although they do seen to of missed a book, A Covern of Vampires, a selection of short stories.

Thanks Red. I'll do some searching on him.
I'm going to state the obvious but it is not for me but a friend who is now in a nursing home. I've just tracked down and ordered a Wheatley collection through Easons for him.
While I enjoyed Wheatley and similar years ago I'm not much into reading myself these days but I know of his love for this type of fiction but am completely at a loss as to who would be Wheatleys successor. Thanks. Pat.

Shady, a film was also made from "To the Devil a Daughter" by Wheatley which, if memory serves me well, starred Richard Widmark
and might be worth a look.

Thanks also to the red and canker.

I'm also a big fan of Mr Wheatley. My brother had the complete collection of books in red leather bind. I've read so many of his titles, the best being The Devil Rides Out. I've read it several times and it will always be a personal favourite.

I too was looking for an alternative writer that had the same knowledge and writing style of Mr Wheatley but I never found him, perhaps he's out there?

So far I've managed to find 24 ebooks for Dennis Wheatley. I had to convert them from various formats to mobi so I can read them on my kindle.

Can you say where you found these versions and how you converted them to kindle?

I'm a 62 year old novice who has a kindle and would love to read these books once more.
