    Any plumbers in?

is there any plumbers in the house?

I totally drained my water system today as i have been busy replacing the bathroom suite.

There is a 2 cold water tanks in the loft, a hot water tank/boiler thing in the airing cupboard at the top of the stairs, and a boiler in the kitchen with the control panel next to it.

The water pressure seems crap since i've turned it all back on

is it with all your taps or just in the bathroom? i'm thinking either air block or perhaps your new taps are fitted with a conservation restrictor which you can remove

        Nothing wrong with rads bud.

It's the taps but the taps in the whole house not just the two I've replaced

I take it you only have problems with the hot water taps.

The way my dad used to resolve slow taps due to an air lock was to plug a hosepipe onto the hot & cold tap, linking the two together, then use the higher cold water pressure to clear the hot water pipe of air.

But this was on the old back boiler type, not the new feeble variety of water heater. Not sure if this method would cause damage to the heater.

              That's what my dad does.

Like the idea of using a vax to suck the air out of the tap. Wouldn't use the Dyson though, a friend nearly ~~~~ed mine while hoovering around the dogs bowls...sucked up water while 3inches away from his bowl.

If only women could suck like that

go up to the tanks and check inside where the hole for the outlet is. they often have some kind of crud in them (lime or the likes), maybe it agitated and semi blocked when you drained

not so long ago i did a job and i turned water off at wall

when i went to put water to the house back on i couldnt undersatand it at all NO WATER was running at all

i ran about like a headless chicken checking and checking couldnt understand why

phoned m8 who is a proper plumber he said i might have sludge or stop tap has seized up inside

i had to buy a stop cock and turn water off outside and then i took stop tap off inside house and replaced turned water back on outside and everything was ok

your problem sounds similar only i was getting nothing you sound like there is some getting through just not the amount you want

Sounds like a gravity fed system krazylegz, by draining it down air has got into the domestic hot water side, the easiest way to do it is switch your CH off and only have hot water heating from the boiler then turn the thermastat up full, this usually blows it out. Failing this if you feel competent, switch your hot water on and remove the boiler thermastat probe for about 20 mins this does the same thing but the hot water can get hotter and does the job quicker. But remember to RE-INSTALL THE THERMASTAT PROBE AFTER. The last way to do it if this fails is put a link between your hot and cold water taps or if a mono block tap cover the outlet, then switch on both taps, because the pressure is greater in the cold water side it will force water around the hot water system and blow out the blockage, but you will get water flowing out of the expansion tank overflow in the loft so make sure its all connected (it will be the smaller of the two tanks ).....chuck

                      air blockage

The best way to free it is turn off water to main tank, turn on all cold and hot taps and drain all water from tank. check tank for sludge, then leave all taps on and turn on water until water dribbles from taps, turn off one tap at a time and wait until water flows quicker in the next tap then continue process until all taps are turned off no air can get trapped this way,.

got it done by going into the loft with a hose pipe and sent water down the cold pipes from the tank, it still doesn't seem as powerful as it used to be, but the plumber who done it ( missus mate ) reckons the tap (mixer spout ) is small for a bath tap or it could still have a air lock somewhere

Sounds like you have high pressure taps ( they are fed with reduced diameter connection tubes) then if your system is a gravity one you will get a massive drop in pressure. If your hot and cold are pressurised ...combi to hot and mains to cold pipe... size wont make any difference as combis are set to a flow rate governed by the btu output of the boiler.
