Selling phone on ebay

Hi,

Selling my HTC HD7, Only used it for 3 days.. gone back to iphone..

Wont lie, phone is utter shit.

Anyway,

Im gonna sell it on ebay as mazuma's offer is again shit!.. i can get ?90 more by going off ebay bids..

Anyway, never sold a phone before and have heared all the horror stories with selling phones..


So has anyone got any tips ??

Just put a reserve on it. Most people snipe phones and get them for peanuts.

Set ebay prefs so that only people with feedback scores can bid on it. I have sold a few old contract phones on ebay, and each time there was someone coming in with no feedback, winning the auction and never paying.

This way only genuine users can bid.

I put a seat on ebay and it said in 2 places pickup only when bloke won he said I want it posted to my address how much is it going to cost he did not think it applied him now I have got to go though selling it again
I was going to offer you ?50 for phone plus postage untill you said it was shite

mate make sure you state clearly its only for sale in your home country- otherwise you will get riddiculous bids from nigerians and other african countries. I have had many an auction ruined by africans bidding thousands of pounds for a phone only worth a hundred quid. They are tyring to scam you.

put it on for 99p no reserve it gets more people interested

if you feel like its struggling at the end get a mate too bid you can always cancel if he wins

I've sold a few phones in my time. The Red has the best starting plan, or start it at ?50 with no reserve.

I've never limited people based on feedback, but I clearly state the phone will only be posted to a UK address.

One bloke from Germany won the auction for an MDA Ameo, he did make contact before the auction ended, but he supplied me with a UK address. Never had any other issues.


If you're going to sell it for the best price... Make sure you fully describe it & the things it can do (even if you think it's shit).
Don't tell people that you prefered your Ifail, tell them you got the phone as a back up while waiting for your main phone to be repaired, now you've upgraded to something else (just pick one of the latest high end phones) & no longer need it.

If you want to PM the item number to me when it's listed I'll check how good the listing is.

one thing I always do is state that the IMEI and SERIAL number of the phone will be kept on record to prevent scammers. I believe one trick is to buy a phone off ebay then return it as "Not working when received". What they actually do is return a different handset ( the same make and model as they bought ) one which is either knackered or barred due to it being lost or stolen. They then provide proof of return and paypal refund them without your say in the matter.

this way the buyer can see for himself infront of you the condition of the phone.
make him/her sign 'sold as seen'

Two top things: 1. Wait two days before posting ,I sold something valuable and paypal said they had paid,my account said payed and the day after the money had been returned back to buyer because the account had been fraudulently used!!!
2: send recorded delivery signed for as if they say they havnt received it you won't/don't have a leg to stand on.

i made athread somewhere about one

basically i sold a guitar for ?1200 ish

buyer wasnt happy and sent me empty box back in post with bits of pallete

i just got in touch with paypal and police in time otherwise he would of had both the guitar and his money back because Paypal automatically refund when they process the Tracking information

what you get back can be irrelevant if you are not quick enough i have even started opening boxes before i sign for returns now
