    Buying a new car abroad

My folks want to purchase a new skoda
Were thinking that there might be a signifcant saving by purchasing it direct also theres a 5-6 month waiting list in the uk
Is it a simple process buying abroad ?
Anyone familiar with this way of buying a brand new car ?

Two big things jumped into my head when I read this.

    Import tax

Clock conversion & registering with DVLA

I've not imported/bought a car this way, but it isn't always plain sailing.

Also consider the resale value of grey imports. The process is well documented on UK registration but not sure how much of a saving there would be after transport/tax/registration. I have some experience of high end models being 'driven home' but that was for vehicles unavailable here.

Have you considered showroom or test drive cars, they usually have very low mileage but significant savings over new, even new fleet cars offer big savings with low mileage and warranty.
