    Forgotten password

My brother-in-law has given me an old pc tower system (it still has a floppy drive) but has Word on it. It won't allow me to get into it saying my password has expired and needs to be changed. He can't remember what it should be. Does anybody know how I can clear this password. I can use F2 to get me into start up. Thanks

My 2 cents i would re-format it and start from scratch, you mention it old, so am guessing there lot of stuff on there not needed and a fresh install of xp, and i bet you will enjoy it even better

      where is the password prompt..?

On start up or in word..?

if its on start up.. just try pressing the escape key when prompted for user / pswd..

what version of windows is it..?

It's on start up, and it's windows XP. If I press cancel the screen just displays 'Welcome' I may have to format the HD

you need to use a special set of linux boot disks to allow you to get in.. best thing you ca do to get this function though is to download the prog that does this, it can be found on the Hiren Boot CD...

dowload this and make a cd from the iso.. it si not the latest version of the CD but that does not matter for what you are trying to achieve RapidShare: Easy Filehosting
