    Dish re-alignment

My 1mtr motorised dish need re-alignment, so Ive sent a few emails off to some local TV/Satellite companies for prices.

One joker has replied asking for ?280.00 with a years guarantee!!!... and this is just for re-alignment.

I called him just know and asked hime to explain how he managed to come to that price and all he could say was... it includes 1 year guarantee!

So I asked him how much it was without the 1 year guarantee and hes lost for words & hung up!!!

This is the ref. number 7QQEB he asked me to quote.
If you are this guy & this is your ref number, let me make it clear YOU ARE A DIC*HEAD RIP OFF B@ST@RD!!!

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

Amazing, but he has probably got a few suckers to pay it before.

Out of interest, why can't you re-align it yourself? You can rent pro satellite meters to help. It's a pretty easy process and takes about 10 minutes.

I know its easy to re-align the dish m8, its just that Ive got wobbley knees and can't stand on the ladder for too long.
Rather than risk falling off, I thought just pay someone else a few ??? to do it.

This is a tad of topic but after reading this thread.A thread that I read on another site came into my head. The thread was about how, well lets call them chancers are going around installing satellite dishes and don't really do a good job if you get my drift. This advertisement for Bills Gates and Bills freeview installations set it of.

You could always buy a satellite finder from somewhere like Maplin, and then sync the satellite yourself, you need it pointing to Astra 28.2E if you want most UK channels (Freesat, Free to air, etc)

I use a piece of rope with a hook on each end that goes around my back and hooks on to the ladder rungs ,this way I can rest my butt on it and so take a lot of the strain off my knees.Hope this helps, good luck.

helped my fat unemployed fit fit a dish yesterday, became a 3 screw conversion, as the original holes from last dish had snapped bolts in them, the wood screw held fine, the original bolt from last dish held fine, the screw out of a bed held fine, just the head sheared off the screw off another bed stead. Drilled a hole in the bracket, and gave up, but was perfetcly level, his receiver had a 'test' mode as it made a noise and got excited as it see the statalite.

Rumor has it, and can keep it, that a smaller dish doesn't need to be as accuratle placed as a larger dish
