New laws regarding bigotry are to be rushed through the scottish parliament in time for the new football season kicking off. Scottish justice minister Roseanna Cunningham admitted yesterday that it may lead to prison sentences for singing the national anthem, crossing yourself or displaying an offensive tatoo. What do you think is this a step too far.

It all depends on context. If it's done to taunt others in an offensive and bigoted manner then lock 'em up.
The time has come to sort this once and for all.He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

agree with lainie here theres far more wrong with society that needs attending to first in scotland- how can you lock someone up for 5 years for being a bigot. Its those walking around with knives hidden in their pockets should be put away for 5 years. As usual politicians totally out of touch, i bet theres not even one of them ever been to an old firm game.Comment

The bigotry law you mention is given legal backing only after it has been fully consulted upon in relation to constitution/state law and is only introduced if it is needed.
So,obviously, there must be a need for it.
Like all laws, it is only effective if it is 'policed'.Comment
