If you have been paying it for years, why do you owe them money?

They got slated in the past for targeting the people who pay to make up the numbers for those that don't.

id personally challenge anything they say. id ask for dates when i didnt pay, dates when i did pay and how much benefit your ex was getting as then any maintenance money she got should have come off her income support (i think). ask them to prove how they come to their assessed amounts etc etc. i know friends who have never had a penny from their ex's. one was owed ?25000 (so they said) but surely that cant be right.

single parents get a fortune from child tax credits now (if they dont work). average is ?53 per week per child and they still have child benefit on top of that,

I know this used to be true - not sure if it still applies though - although I would guess it does.

Years ago, I was contacted by the CSA and went through the process of completing the forms, went for an interview with them to go through my information supplied. I asked for an estimate of how much I would be paying and when they told me I was shocked / gobsmacked / bewildered / amazed (could put loads more in there) - anyways, my "friend" had told me that if you can get across that you would end up depressed and living on the edge of life then they do not process or chase up the payments. So i literally just told them how I felt.

If I paid the amount they wanted I wouldnt be able to afford my car, if I couldnt afford the car I would not be able to see my son as she moved away. If I couldnt see my son there would be no point in working. If I wasnt working and not seeing my son there would be not point in living. At this point I was really upset anyway as it was true.

Anyways - I never heard another thing. And BTW I have never ever missed a single payment to my ex for our son, and I have never ever missed a weekend were I havent spent time with him.

got to say i feel so sorry for the dads in these cases. i can only speak from friends experiences but mostly it was them that left the dads.

ive never heard a story of the csa chasing the mothers that ~~~~ off.

That's the thing Lainie, they say it's a man's world but the reality is, it's a womans world.
Let's say you have a successfull busines and then you get married. You get divorced the woman gets half or more.

You have kids, the woman gets the kids and the house.
The courts hand everything over to the woman 99.9% of the time.

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

yeah i know bd. my b/f's ex left him 4 yrs ago when their wee girl was just 2. she had been planned for a few yrs as well. she hadnt paid the mortgage for several months unbeknown to my other half. she hadnt worked since having the wee one so she got all the mail. she hadnt paid the council tax for 3 yrs either. she had met this female friend on the internet who told her how she left her hubby for this rich older man she had met on a dodgy internet forum. i wont name it. she was taken in by the whole thing and planned to leave. however she carried on as normal even having a 40th birthday party for him. she left him 3 months later. he came home from work one night and the house was practically cleared. he had been aware they werent getting on but he hadnt a clue what she had planned.

she ~~~~ed off to england but he had no idea where she was. he had to hire a private investigator to find his daughter.

he was completely shattered (i didnt know him at this point) but he was suicical at losing his daughter.

he pays her what he can as he is still paying the debt off that she left behind. the mortgage was in his name and they had a joint bank acct. she doesnt push for money and if she did i have one of the letters from the debt collection agency for the council tax and i will phone them with her details if i have too. my b/f is paying back his half etc.

so i do completely sympathise with the dads. we have had his daughter with us for a week and we drive her home tomorrow. i cant wait till she is old enough to find out what really happened and what kind of mother she has and some of the degrading stuff she is in too.

Thats so sad and so typical Lainie How can people do things like this to their families.
Even if you no longer love someone how can you treat them like shite, you must have loved them at some point.

bd you have no idea how much it pizzles me off but i keep my mouth shut however id love to tell her what i think of her.

and yes she lives in a private rented house, doesnt work. she has 3 older daughters 18, 20, 22 and was getting maintenance for all 3 of them and tax credits. she has more disposable income that both of us and we work!!

it took a couple of yrs for him to build the bridges but he had too for his wee girls sake. she loves her daddy so much as well and we have had a wonderful week together.

she did say on the phone the wee one needed new clothes. we buy loads of clothes for her when she is here. well its me really as he cant due to paying the debts. his ex put in 2 pairs of trousers in her case so we had to go and buy stuff. she is going back with 12 pairs of trousers etc so she better not ask for another thing. funnily enough she has enough money to go away to these weekends organised by her dodgy web forum with her pensioner boyfriend.

omg the stories i could tell you

Lainie, do you know roughly how much the private dick cost? I ask as a relative is in a very similar situation and is considering this option. Thanks.
