You should only get a new IP if the Router MAC changes.

Otherwise it will stay the same until manually changed.

what makes you say that , it has nothing to do with the router

the isp will for 90% of us , ie if your not on a staic ip addreses ,
will be change arfter a modem is rebooted ,

go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ take a note of your ip , then reboot your modem and go there again , and you will see

As a cable modem, If i go to my Router and change the MAC id I get assigned a new IP.

The reason I know this, is every time my router mac gets blacklisted by vermin. I change my router mac for it to work and I need to change my dyndns.

I have rebooted my router umpteen times for various reason and never once had to update my dyndns.

No, I dont use a auto updater mate.

Mate asdl networks work that way. I have never had one so un sure.

But I can reboot all day long and it wont change. Only once I change the mac will the IP then change.

I had a clone modem for 4 years and the same IP, then it died and vermin blacklisted my router mac.

And it wasnt until I noticed that my local setup was not working that I had to update my IP on dyndns.

Also the way in which I have OScam setup re IP my parents logins would give me gip all the time.

They turn their router off every night and I have OScam set to only allow that IP.

I think this thread has reached it's conclusion, we have gone from wimps to IP renewals

Maybe best to open a topic here Networking to continue the chat, thanks.
