got a cat myself,18 years old and mad as a box of frogs,
she has only rarely wet anywhere other than her litter tray and to remove the smell you need to use non biological washing powder not biogical.

It's a bit of a catch 22 situation, the cat sprays to mark it's territory, the human cleans it up, the cat comes back and can't smell it's own smell so it marks again. This is what cats do.

It may have something to do with the mouse and the cat wanting to let the mouse know it's there. The cat probably doesn't know that it's killed the same mouse so thinks there is still something live in the living room.

One way would be to do like people do to stop cat's going in their garden and get some lion crap from the zoo. It may smell worse than the cat pee but would keep the cat out of the living room.

female cats do not spray to mark their territory,it is a toms way of attracting females and deterring other tomcats from its territory

i think you'll find that it's biological washing powder, try using google if you don't believe me

          give this a go lainie:

          The owner was advised to:
Thoroughly clean area where the cat has soiled using biological washing powder followed by surgical spirit.
Bait the toileting site using dry cat food. Cats will not toilet near food.
Use Feliway in some strategic locations. Feliway is a synthetic version of the feline pheromone deposited by a cats face when they rub and it promotes feelings of comfort.

cats usually only pee in the house and in stange places i.e corners of rooms and stuff, because there scared and stressed,, maybe a new cat has moved into the area, or someone has frightened her outside.

after washing tried some orange fragrant cleaning fluid cats hate oranges and wont go near it

              hope this helps

I had this problem years ago, i was told to get the cat and rub its nose in the pee soaked carpet, and also get a water pistol to spray the cat with when its decides to use the house as a toilet. This did work, and the peeing stopped ... You have not said if you have a cat flap, these help the cat to come and go whenever they feel the need to pee.

You can buy in pet shop some cat deterred liquid and spray it around this sector.

well she eventually settled down. we did try almost everything and yes roxi is still here with her sister rio. i got another litter wee house thing so theres now 2 of them and think thats solved the problem. theres been one incident in 6 months now.shes a tabby and was told they are more of a handful that other breeds. her sisters all black and absolutely no bother. neither of them get in the living room when we are at work.

for those intreasted - and don't care about danger - the mains powered detector - working the mains powered wachingmachine solenoid - with the poundland hose fitting is GREAT.

now the cats have gone to the other side of garden, not able to squirt them - will do one day.
