I've recently discovered a replica watch "scene". It's a very popular hobby. They're not cheap - you're talking anywhere from ?250-?500 for what is essentially a fake, albeit a very VERY good fake. Some even have Swiss ETA movements. I bought two - an Omega Seamaster chronograph and a Tag Heuer Aquaracer. The tag is indistinguishable from the genuine and since Tag don't really have fancy parts in them, it's every bit as good. The omega has a poor pearl on the bezel, all replicas suffer this flaw - the chinese factories just can't get this right - so I invested on a genuine bezel which run me an additional ?100.

Fake is fake however much it costs. It says more about the giver than the gift.
