I have followed the research for quite a while and some explanations are actually conflicting to say the least.
However this is my understanding of it or some others and hence a link to a decent explanation Quantum Levitation
The references at the end of the article are a good read also.Last edited by satsmo; 22 October, 2011, 22:51.I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas AdamsComment

What is the maximum weight.
If it was that good they would have a floating table with the floating demo.

Weight was and never will be an issue some of them will happily hold a car. But we already have monorails running in china and japan. The reason they were developed is computing etc... so microchips can be smaller etc. The biggest problem a chip will ever face is overheating the reason your computer has a fan.
Over 20% of all electricity generated at the power station is lost before an appliance has done its job be it putting an image on your screen or sound in your speakers. All due to resistance.
Now most (electrical) things will have no resistance at absolute zero very hard/expensive to get something that cold never-mind keep it there so something that does the job at liquid nitrogen levels (relatively warm) gets the name of super conductor floating in a magnetic field is a cool looking bonus ( from what i remember at skool in the (early 90s) was these were found by IBM in the late 80's so relativity new stuff considering the microchip was designed in the early 40s in what was the birth of silicone valley.
