Hiya i had an accident with my tv. A ladder slipped when i was taking the xmas decorations down and went through the screen. I had an engineer out and he said it couldn't be repaired for whatever reason.
I contacted my home insurers and they said they would send someone out to assess the damage and i would have to pay them a cheque for the Compulsory and voluntary excess on the policy.
I was just reading through the policy and it states that the excess shall be deducted from the claim. Surely if i had to pay upfront it would read the excess is payable by me or words to that effect.
The policy is with The Abbey. Would you say i had to pay the amount upfront or should this be deducted from the total of my claim, say ?1000 less Excess of ?100 would leave me with a cheque for ?900.The excess would then have been deducted from my claim. Any thoughts here guys.
