Car extended warranties, you know ???

Anyone got any experience of these extended warranties you can buy for your car when the manufacturers warranty has ran out ???

Ive never bought one and ive heard tales in the past saying they are crap, but i dont know, are they ??

I see some on the internet that say they give you full comprehensive cover, but again, i dont know just whats covered and whats not, i.e- engine blowing up etc.

    Appreciate any info on this.

    I'll never take one again.

I bought a 3 year extended warranty on my last car, anything I tried to claim on I was told was not covered on the policy.

It only covers major engine and structural failures AFAICS.

Complete waste of money for me, I could have held onto the money it cost for the 'warranty' and that would have paid for my repairs anyway.

Not worth the paper they're written on, mate.

There will always be a clause stating something to the effect of "does not cover anything that can be attributed to wear and tear".
Which is pretty much anything that ever does go wrong.

I take on board what your saying that they are shite, but when you look at this as an example >>> Our cover levels - Car warranty plan | Tesco Finance & Insurance

The "finest" level looks good cover, ive read over the info a couple of times but i cant see any catch's or con's , unless iam missing it, .

            see what ya think yourself.

As with most warranties , you only find out how good they are , when you claim on them , as with the majority here , you tend to find they offer the earth and when put to the test , they don't want to know , normally already having had your money up front !!
