thanks lainie, i appreciate thata girl in work has one. she had it on at work but it was distracting others and giving peeps a headache as it was so bright.
maybe just this time of year cb? id get the doc to check your hormone levels and iron levels. you worrying bout something? i go for help with my anxiety so pm me if i can help in any way.
nothing out the ordinary, bills, christmas ect, just the usual worries.
How long did she have to use it for do you know? Did she just have to stare at it or was it just in the background?
Its just getting to me that from the second i wake up it feels like its going on 5pm how dull and gloomy it is outside, and i don't know whether im coming or going.
From what ive read so far, the lack of daylight can affect hormone balance and your body clock, i hope i manage to get something to help it, not enough time in the day as it is nevermind me struggling to get things done and feeling sorry for myself.

here's what N.I.C.E, and the NHS say about SAD.
and I can highly recommend CBT, I've seen some amazing results with it, and not a drug in sight.

ive been for CBT and would not recommend it at all. all they go on about is how to think positively in the future. they dont address why you feel the way you do re something. ie they dont go into what causes my anxiety but try to teach me how to think in the future. no use whatsoever. i have reasons why i get anxious but they didnt even ask bout thatsigpic

CBT is not a cure it's a coping strategy, ive been for CBT and would not recommend it at all. all they go on about is how to think positively in the future. they dont address why you feel the way you do re something. ie they dont go into what causes my anxiety but try to teach me how to think in the future. no use whatsoever. i have reasons why i get anxious but they didnt even ask bout that
I've seen huge improvements in a lot of people where medication didn't do anything.
lainie, your CBT would have been carried out by a psychologist, they are not qualified to give you the help you want with your anxiety, only a medically qualified person, GP, or, Psychiatrist can do that.!retupmoc eht ni deppart m'I !pleHComment

tbh i'd rather deal with it myself where i can.
Been mucked about with doctors re: depression in the past. And im a bit wary that they try to put it down to post natal depression, cause i know myself thats not what it is.
Ive read the books on cbt and its not for me, as lainie said its about teaching yourself to 'think positive' its all a bit primary school stuff. Well what i read anyway.
Anyways been having a good read on the links, agree with most of it and can relate to it so i hope i find a light cheap enough that will help....if it helps at all

Chelseabun, it might be that you suffer from SAD but a lot of people are complaining about tiredness and fatigue at the moment which is due to the dank weather we have.
I would advise you to see your doctor as self diagnosis usually pans out wrong.
What ever you decide, I hope you will be feeling better real soon.Comment

well this is where the problems were in the past...i went from being on anti deppressants for 6 months, moved so had to change doctors, got a doctor who didnt agree with teenagers being on ad's, stopped me right away and reccomended me to a counsellor once
i decided to help myself, doctors were just mucking me about too much... But im still here so it cant be that bad :/

I'll pop pills 'til the cows come home if they improve my quality of life. Others avoid them like the plague. If you had diabetes, you would take insulin. Depression is an illness too and it can be managed, like diabetes. A combination of the right medication and therapy usually yields the best results.Comment

i would suggest taking a vitamin D supplement if you think you suffer from seasonal adjustment disorder, also if you get depressed try a B vitamin complex.
i personally find daily exercise, meditation and positive affirmations a great way to keep on track, as well as watching your diet (sugar spikes and slump etc)Comment

Hifor the past few weeks to a month i've been starting to feel really rubbish/ having no energy and just generally down in the dumps with no valid reason to be. I've been suffering with headaches and i think it's due to lack of daylight now winter is here.
I've been told on more than on occasion now to get a SAD light as this could be the problem?
Was just wondering if anyone has heard of this, or any experience?
Wow thats me exactly, wife has allready booked me in with the gp on Fri. I thought I was the only one feeling like this.
Have stopped going 5 aside and also dont feel like going out unless forced.
I get like that as soon as winter starts drawing in.
I didnt know or even ever heard of sad lights but after reading your thread have started looking into it and will also ask
the gp on Fri and see what he says.
