now i know the majority of guys on here are very very clued up - but would it be possible for one of u clever guys just to say what some of the abbreviations are? i know u cant teach and old dog new tricks but i was thinking mabe just mabe im not the only numpty in the place? regards dave

Hmmm...I'll give it a go...

EMU - Emulator, i.e. evocamd, mgcamd, etc.

SNR - Signal to Noise Ratio - The amount of good signal that the tuner can see above the noise.

BER - Bit Error Rate - Amount of noise in your feed.

EPG - Electronic Program Guide - Daily/Weekly listing of programs on any channel.

CAM - Conditional Access Module - A device that your smartcard slots into and then into your receiver.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol - Method for transferring files from one drive to another.
