one candle takes an hour to burn,

one end might burn quicker than the other but it doesn't matter because candle will be completly burned in half an hour.

same principal applies when candle is split in two and burned at both ends, candle will burn 4x as fast,
one half may be brned quicker than other, but again it doesnt matter.
I think that's depending HOW/When you are burning candle from every end.
Now have two burning candles on my desk...looking nice.... after few more ales will try to burn them from the other side and will post results....hopefully...
Is there any certain diameter of candles?....can cut some bits off with penknife.

P.S. My experiment is still going on....just have thought...As both of my candles are burning in the bowl....so if i will put some piece of wood in it it continuing to burn without actual candle which is already melted.
So....is there any second chance/life chance for candle?

          ....two minutes later....still burning....

              ....an hour later(could be a bit less).....still burning...damn things....my test doesn't work.
Are there unexpected answers included in this test?
              ....even with first praise gone.....

If i will wake up tomorrow morning and they will be still burning i can write whole book about burning candles!

If you light them both and one burns out in 3 minutes as I've said above and the other half burns out in 57 minutes where do you get the 30 minutes from?
yep i was wrong with that.

you need 4 flames unitl the candle is burned out,

so split in half and light both ends,
when one candle burns out you need to split remaining candle and light both ends so there is always 4 flames until there is no candle left.

Or you don't split it and light both the ends of one candle and one end of the second one.

Thirty minutes will have passed when the first candle burns out, which in turn means thirty minutes have burned off the second candle. Then you need to light the end of the second candle and when that burns out, the forty five minute mark will have passed.

Same solution as Andy just a different way of looking at it.

Mines are still burning....not from both ends, but in bowl with two tooth sticks each and no signs of finish ...anyway that question thing seems to be working on the theoretical candles. As mines are real that doesn't work. they seems to burn forever.

my guess is, given the constraints, that you cant time 45 mins. boring i know, but sometimes the most obvious..................

1-cut the first candle to 2 pieces, light them,it will take 30 min for the last half to be off.
2-cut the other one to 4 pieces,it will take 15 min for the last piece is off........right???

                                right one last guess.

We're assuming that lighting candles at both ends is the way to go?

Light 1 candle at both ends at the same time you light the other candle at one end (how is this even possible you don't have 3 hands ffs)

when the candle burning at 2 ends meets in the middle (signalling 30 minutes has lapsed) light the other end of the candle which has now also been burning for 30 minutes, which will double the speed of what it has left to burn. Giving you 15 minutes of burning time...TOTALLING 45 MINUTES!

                                Thank you and goodnight
