TDK that has just become write protected

First off a big hello out there, second i need some help. I have just recently (yesterday) bought a TDK 4GB memory/USB stick and on the first use of it i recieved an error saying "this device is write protected, please remove protection", i have tried to format it, both in normal and safe mode. I have tried to adjust properties but unfortunately to no avail. Please help.

If it's a memory card with a USB adapter, the switch will be on the adapter...not the card.
