Do you think the multi national companies are a bit pissed off that backroom developers can bring our devices to the forefront by creating better software than the ~~~~ers who are getting paid a hell of a lot more to do it for a job....

tbh, the discussion really should be about what can or cant be copyrighted and/or patented rather than about specific devices. At the moment copyright is at such a silly stage I wouldn't be suprised to find i've violated somebody else's rights just by replying here !

It is getting very silly and I think this is where android will come into it's own but then how long will it be before someone tries to copyright the source code.

But its not only about mobile devices. It covers stuff like games consoles, tvs, dvd players anything that has firmware that can be exploited.

So basically it has the potential to effect everything

I know what you mean cunny and the problem we have is that if the manufacturers spent the time to make the firmware as good as it can be when the product is released it would drive up the prices, so surely the government has to see this is not about piracy it's about refining a product after release which will keep the cost down in retail, we can spend more because things are cheaper and bring the country out of recession....~~~~ me I should run for prime minister
