Hi floppy, Dk is noted for its helpful people who would be only too happy to give you a link or google one for you, but it would be a start if you were to let us know as to what part of the world you are in.
DK is a multi-national forum, so, it's not automatically assumed that you are from England.

when you say getting a new place...buy/rent.

easiest way to find it is to ask the current owner / payer of the ground rent.

Although ground rent varies around ?5 to ?15 annum it?s the council tax you should worry about.

Council tax if you are living around Knightsbridge London it could cost you around ?10,000 annum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you are buying a place ground rent will be set out by the freeholder so it should be in the lease

the property agent should know what it is

and dont forget to find out how long is left
as if its nearly up next lease could be 10 times or more higher .check to see if you can purchase the freehold
may save money in the long term
