i don't believe in suicide. the concept sickens me. it's nothing less than selfishness.
are your problems really that bad that you should take your own life?
Do these people have no concern for the hurtand pain they leave behind?
especially this bloke you mentioned. in front of his parents?!?
not bad enough that they've got to live with the fact that their son commited suicide but they had to watch it.
worse are those people whose method of suicide is to walk onto a motorway and get themselves killed by a truck. Imagine if you were the driver who killed them. imagine having that on your conscience. imagine you do your best to avoid hitting them and end up having an accident which kills somebody else, maybe even yourself because of these selfish people.
worse still are those that feel the end of a relationship is a good enough reason to take not only their own life but the lives of their children aswell.
It's all very well pointing out that these people often aren't in any state of mind to think about the consequences of their actions but it doesn't make it any less selfish.
In any case if someone is that imbalanced they would know that they need help before they take it to extremes such as these. a family member should at least have noticed.
These people do not just snap adn wake up one morning with the desire to kill themselves. Nor do they behave normally leading to up it.
      Selfish.

the right thing to do if you're feeling suicide would be to go into a burning building to rescue someone. do something good on their way out.
surely a blaze of glory would be the best way to die.

Just so long as its not them that set light to the building in the first place.

Lots of sweeping generalisations going on here.

Yes some of them are selfish but many of them are in no condition to be judged, just think yourself lucky that you don't have to walk in their shoes.

i worked in a mortuary for nearly ten years and i saw many suicide victims, and all of them were done with grisly methods. the strange thing was the people who took overdoses nearly always never succeeded, they usually went to a&e and had a stomach washout. cry for help maybe i dont know, but i think people who throw themselves in front of a truck or blow their brains out with a shotgun its done in an instant with no time to reflect on their actions or the consequences of the act, whereas people who take pills have the time to think and in most cases call for help, so calling people selfish i think is wrong, desperate is more apt. the act may be selfish but the reasons certainly are not !!

got to disagree m8 i agree with red spider people who hang themselves are the most selfish people in the world and dont give a ~~~~ about any of their family or friends they just think and feel sorry for themselves

i know 3 people who have killed themselves one over a woman he actually phoned his wife who was having an affair and said look at me im out the back when she looked out he hung himself with the washing line in front of his two kids (what a man eh)

2nd a lad who was doing well lost all his coin was gonna lose his home killed himself cos he couldnt bear it rather die than lose his ego and be poor nevermind the 2 kids and wife he left im sure they are coping much better now

and the third got caught shaging his sister so killed hi self rather than face the music

                          what price your pride eh?

The old saying goes : to kill one's self is to kill the people you leave behind .
Regardless of mental state or circumstance , that's the tragic result i think.
