    Gumtree warning !!!

    hi,
Just thought I would let you all know what happened to me, I saw a Sony Vaio i7 laptop for sale on Gumtree, ?400.00 bnib, so I e-mailed the guy, and he said he has 7 of them and I could collect on payment, but I live up north he was in London, I rang him on his mobile number and spoke to him agreeing to pay via Papal ?200.00 upfront and a further ?200.00 when I receive the laptop, he sent me a invoice via PayPal for 1st payment.
I paid the 1st payment and never heard from him again........... ho shit I thought no laptop, ?200.00 lighter what a knob I***8217;ve been, dead phone number, e-mails bouncing back........lost ?200.00 quid.
Only chance I had was to open a dispute with PayPal and 10 days later they ruled in my favour (they had no repose from the seller) and put ?200 .00 back into my bank account Phew I was lucky, just a lesson to be learned.
sellers name if anyone is interested
    Invoice
    Samuel Goldsheild
(sorry no personal details to be posted not even for something like this,i will leave the name tho )

these scams have been around for ages now, most people should be aware of them even on the gumtree site it tells you always deal face to face in a public place!!

        ??????

Buggered if I'd send something to anyone unless they'd paid first!

What planet did that idea come from?
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

I can see this leading to a few interesting deals

"I wont pay until I have the goods"
"I wont send the goods until you pay"
