NHS- staff against reforms

Please support this plight to help NHS staff, certain companies are trying to alter original terms and conditions of care workers all around the country ... Cutting wages,and bullying them into submission in private supervisions, letters saying if they don't sign mew contracts then they will be fired.... Reforms to NHS should not come from baseline services care workers.
The problem is that efficiencies have to happen but the people in charge of making this happen are managers and they are not going to say their positions are not need therefore it gets passed down to frontline provision. Cheers Micky

That's the reason I left the NHS, to many chiefs, and got sick of changes to working conditions,
I now work in an independent hospital, better pay and conditions, but crap pension,
I wish the NHS staff well, but I don't hold out much hope for them, those at the top know staff wont put patients at risk by striking, so they wont give in.

I guess staff will "work to rule", or have "sick outs" that may be the way forward...all support staff etc are being left behind while managers are getting their redundancies and happy handouts or severances etc while the staff who actually do the work are being grievances and bullied it's pathetic!! And can only lead to poor practice...

Why are NHS staff a special case? Why do you deserve any more consideration then anyone else? Dirty wards, viruses, abuse of elderly, and a lot of hospitals not even meeting minimum standards.

My elderly father in law was left to dehydrate and because the staff forgot to put his cot sides up, as instructed by the doctor, he fell out of bed, fractured his skull and died from his injuries. (Nothing to do with management, plenty of staff around they just didn't look after him because he was old.) Even the coroner was disgusted at the tissue of lies they put up in their defence.

Many people that used to work in hospital cared and deserved credit. Now, most are there for the money and do as little for it. Threatening strike action speaks volumes.

If you don't like the pay and working conditions leave, there's plenty who'd love your job.

Sorry to hear about your loss unipit, my auntie has recently died in hospital also and an enquiry is ongoing related to this, the problems are that inexperience of staff does not matter to the government and commissioners of the service anymore.The reason we have the problems we do is because of the cuts already been placed in different sectors of the nhs including the wards employing of people on the cheap who dont particularly care anymore and have no pride in their job because of poor pay and poor terms and conditions . As you may be aware of the countries deficit etc "efficiencies" are being made but the people responsible for making these efficiencies are the managers who obviously don't want to admit that their roles as managers on ?120000 a year etc are nor needed so it gets passed down and so on!!!, then the main staff nurses , home leaders etc are getting their redundancies leaving front line staff to take on the management/charge nurse/shift coordinator roles which takes them from support roles to management roles.. Leaving newly employed staff in miniscule wages in charge of providing 1-1 care with very poor terms and conditions who have no respect or self worth for the job anymore. I am a very proud caret and have looked after people for the last 18 years in the learning disability services, after all this time the service is now commissioned by people that determine how much care the people I look after should have on 1-1 hours such as 10hrs a week etc which reduced staff,hours,now they are trying to change nurses terms and conditions that applied for years and worked to gain also have a contract ..if someone/you came into this job on a certain rate of pay and signed a contract .if 15yrs later they wanted to change your rate of pay, the terms and conditions. Benefits etc that you are on would that be ok?, when I started this job I was on minimum wage I gave gained my status after all these years why should I be bullied into signing new contract etc thus would put me out of a job I would lose my house etc while the managers who don't even provide care make a fortune!
People that don't work got a %5 raise in benefits this year, health care staff have had a pay freeze for the last 4years which equates to a 16% pay cut in real terms already we have done our bit.the government are creating a situation where they are turning people against the nhs workers. This is very dangerous and just another kick in the teeth for care workers, and another nail in the NHS privatisation coffin. Cheers Micky

The biggest problem with the NHS now is that they are trying to run it as a profit making business, it is not a business it is a Health Service.
It is overrun with overpaid management levels busy filling in colouring charts and reports patting themselves on the back for how good they are at saving money. Which is done by employing cheap foreign untrained labour and "outsourceing" cleaning etc to the cheapest contractors who then cut as many corners as possible to make their profit.
It needs a return to the old system of Matrons and Ward Sisters who managed the wards and took pride in running a "tight clean ship".
Stop all this "Fur coat and no knickers" approach of fancy Admission areas with Costa Coffee Shops and fancy restaurants festooned with exotic plant life, it's a Hospital not a bloody shopping mall.

all about privatisation!! commisioned to so called not for profit companies with 50+ million in assets etc/....employing cheap workers and ousting experienced staff because they have better terms?conditions...they want workers with no real terms etc....and no future promotion etc to stay on the same wage forever...
when the new health and social care bill comes in---which it will this will mean another %50 of the nhs will be tendered out to private companies all wanting big profits !!!! get a grip people the coalition is there to ~~~~ this country and the nhs up and when done they will be replaced by labour or whatever and they will be saying how they can do a better job by then it will be toooo late....health care is going down the pan.

completely agree with you micky, my other half is a support worker in a mental health unit, and there slowly finding reasons to sack all the more senior staff, then being replaced by useless, student visa holders on minimum wage(if you know what i mean)
and working with minimum staffing levels.
