windows xp for sale removed from flebay

have been selling oem xp pro on ebay sold a few in the past. my most recent listing was for 4 of these at ?60 each luckily i'd sold em all before ebay removed my listing, there reason is very unclear as i was selling them in exactly the same format as other sellers apart from i'd got 4 at buy it now - seems like that may be it ??????.
anyhow they also removed 1 copy i had for auction ????
so my mate is selling it for me.
its kind of irritated me as to why they do this.
can anyone clarify or even just simpathise

have you asked the auction site staff or customer services why, surely they are the only people who can answer you question

they send you a auto generated email saying any questions should go to [email protected] because it was microsoft who asked them to remove it. i have emailed the above address and again got a auto email blah blah blah saying some one may look at it eventually and give me a specific reply???
i await thier reply with bated breath

AFAIK OEM software must be sold along with hardware to remain within the rules.

Silly rule but AFAIK that's the way it is supposed to work.

Like Witcky says...OEM must be sold with hardware

you will see alot of listings saying "i will include a worthless piece of hardware with this item"

This is the sellers way of abiding by fleabay stupid rules!

, wonder if OEM is a clue??? Microsoft want rid of XP. you just got the sharp end! bet they are not as hot on VISTA. when you think about it, it makes sense. MS have spent their entire life, producing dross OS. finding they have a good one on their hands, must really upset them. no wonder they want to kill it.
XP rules, not because it is good. but because its better than anything else. in effect the only one to chose in a bad bunch.(since DOS 6.22)

If its broke, fix it and use it again!
If it proper broke, use it for something else!

I was a Dos slut too.

I started using PC's back in the days of Dos 5.0 and Windows 3.0 and I ~~~~ing detested Windows. Everything that Windows could do in those days was capable in Dos and a hell of a lot faster since there was no GUI hogging resources.

Dos 6.22 was IMO one of the best OS'es ever, my favourite Windows buildon Dos 6.22 is Win98SE and believe it or not I also enjoyed WinME!!

XP when 1st released was a wet dream for me, I really liked it.

i have had mine busted on ebay too they are mainly from competitors who complain that they know your add is a forgery and your xp is bogus ebay will then remove the listing whether it is fake or not just to make sure best thing to do is bubble all the competition

i also had a similar problem with nokia n95 and n96 which i sold as 1.1 clones with no gps everyone else was selling knocked off nokia's at full price the n96 was not even released at the time and was fetching ?600 i was buying them for ?80 and selling for ?150 the same phone

when i asked the sellers why the were selling copied phones at full price they all grasssed me up my listings went i was then stuck with phones (now sold btw) i couldnt sell.when i tried to relist i was banned good eh so i know your pain m8

i still have a few copies of xp which i cant shift cos of the ~~~~ers my only consolation was i got every ~~~~er else blew out of the water selling dodgy nokias at full whack

oops, i go back to DOS 3.3. 5 and 6.22 (memmaker, imho the most useful tool ever for an os) were up there with any of the best OS. mind you DOS 7 was not bad too.( though i know it was never sold as a stand alone). it was a mare to sort, but win 3.11, was one of my favourites. i moved to 95, found it dross, and my next upgrade was to XP. i never liked 98/se. but i guess as i never used it as MY OS, i never gave it a chance. spent some time on NT3/4, liked it but it too was a mare to set up. roll on WINMINI,( basically modern DOS with a gui) perhaps finally Ms will end up where they should have been 15, or more years ago.

mr microsoft has been back in touch with me and said that they were concerned that they were copies so i have sent them photos of the coa, disc and booklet as they requested. this may seem like i'm getting in to deep but i 100% know they are real as i purchased them from stores.
my story is :- i build pc's for mates family as a hobbie and don't charge for this service (if they wnt to give me a sweetner then i accept) and they request xp so over time as and when i have had the cash i buy oem xp with the peice of hardware. when these mates say 'i don't want the xp i have got a copy' thats up to them.
so i ended up with 4 oem xp being short of cash and now people want vista (?????) i decided to flebay the lot (with a peice of hardware for each 1).
that seems to be my mistake if i'd sold 1 at a time it looks like no Q's would have been asked.
my proof of the above is that a friend is selling 1 of the same with the same listing as i put and no probs as yet.

to boot this zero feedback guy has put ppal complaint in saying item not recieved cos he got a email from ebay saying listing removed. i emailed all the buyers giving them the tracking number special delivery before 1pm no less, at ?5.05 cost to me as i put p/p free. he then said i gave him wrong tracking number and the xp was to be deliverd to newport. were he got newport from i don't know???
we'll see i'll update as and when.

to follow up 2 copies of the software were conterfeit MS said 'return them to your supplier and get a refund that way you wont be selling conterfeits' and that was that.

so i installed a copy on an old machine and the only thing they don't do is ask you to activate windows, so i went on to ms updates and low and behold tried every update, every validation and even the wga and the software passed em all. installed service pack 3 and all updates perfectly.
only way to really tell is something like belarc advisor it lists that the internet explorer is a different serial to the xp serial.
i only could get 2 copies returned so now i'm stuck? with these ;-) coa sticker and all.

so after all that it turned out you were unwittingly knocking out dodgy copies of XP on ebay.. Out of curiousity how many had you sold/used before this situation arose. I wonder if the place you bought them from is aware...

I am surprised they just said to take them back for a refund, I though they would have taken a harder line and at least have asked you to advise them where you got them from etc.. I appreciate that their main interest is taking put the big boys (the factories) that make them them etc..

Thanks for coming back with this info, was interesting..

i do remember buying 2 copies from a local store that has been closed down for selling weekly mp3 dvd's, so adding 2 n 2 n making 4 i may have got them from there???
so i have kind of hit it lucky by only selling one on flebay and getting it back the other one i'd installed on a mates machine so replaced that.

                              never again!

i'll stick to my useual way of buying a cream crackerd laptop or pc with a branded coa for example smell or facer and install useing oem disc. allthough i have got smell discs.
