dog pull on the lead ?

Does your dog pull on the lead ? As some of you may know I have a St Bernard who weighs over 10 stone, she walks perfectly on a loose lead that is until she sees another dog, then she pulls like a steam train to get to the other dog, I've had dogs all my life and would consider myself to be fairly decent at training them, but Holly my St had me stumped, that is until I found the Canny Collar, this thing has transformed my dog and I can now walk the ~~~~er without looking like a complete c?ck, it's a simple bit of kit to use and I am telling anyone who will listen about this collar, it really is genius!

Jesus that thing looks like something Torquemada would have used.

My dog is 9 stone and had a brief problem until I used a chest harness. Doesn't the fact that she walks perfectly on a loose lead tell you something?

She's trying to be dominant. Pulling should have been stopped from an early age.

was just thinking that, ive never had to buy anything to stop a dog pulling, u just have to reinforce your role as the alpha from when they are pups.. if they know who the boss is, they'll act accordingly
      Fave replies from various threads

I've always worked one 1 simple rule with a chest harness.

I use a genkong on on my german shepherd. It's a bit like halti but instead of just a band round the nose it is shaped like figure of eight with one loop over the nose and the other high up the neck under the chin and behind the ears, she can be controlled by my six year old with this, as it constricts around the nose and neck with the softest of touches. It is also only half inch thick webbing and very light. This seems to give the impression to others she is well trained enough to not need restraining with a big thick lead and stops them giving us a wide berth.

So basically you torture her every time you take her for a walk.
                  That's just wrong.

I'm sorry but any owner who has to put some harness type device around a dogs face/nose area has raised the dog wrong.

I've no wish to be the boss of my dog, shes a pet,Friend, companion, and a member of my family, you use a Harness the Canny Collar is a similar effective device to assist in keeping control of a pet!

Sorry mate but I use my voice to control my dog not some medieval device.
As shady said, you're dog needs to understand who the alpha male is.

Get the basics right and none of your 'kit' is required. I was only pointing out where you have gone wrong with your dogs upbringing so there wasn't any need to accuse me of trolling.

Sorry MATE, but I haven't gone wrong with my dog, she is a well behaved cared for pet, who, for whatever reason decides to greet other dogs in a highly excited manner, but here a deal, I'll pay your fare to visit my home and you can show me how to be "alpha male" but please be aware, if you take up my offer and touch my dog inappropriately, I absolve her bof all responsibility of what her reaction may be!
