our dog pulls on the lead, we were too lenient on the training, but luckily our dogs a cavalier. not exactly gonna pull me out onto the road any time soon.

if we were to get a bigger dog at least we now know the hard work that in training is a must for owner and the dog

      That's just wrong.

I'm sorry but any owner who has to put some harness type device around a dogs face/nose area has raised the dog wrong.
After you have edited your post I see you really don't get the concept.....I don't have to use a harness around anything (certainly not a full chest harness) which I may add is probably 1 inch thick leather and studded to make your dog look tougher. The genkong is a light weight leader that allows a very small child (under strict supervision) to walk a very powerful dog with limited risk to members of the public, after all every dog has it's own brain and very limited social skills which means they can and do make the wrong decisions regardless of who is the boss. The genkong is a visual reassurance to people who don't know the dog that it doesn't need 3 kilos of leather around it's chest to allow the handler to stop it if anything goes wrong. And if you are one of these owners who think my dog wouldn't hurt anybody because I'm in charge, you are a fool.

Do you feed your children in the garden out of a tin bowl ?

I completely agree shady but they do have there own mind and just the faith that will always obey is not enough with a dog that is capable of a huge amount of damage in a very short time. I agree with any aid that is not detrimental to the dog but gives whoever is in control of that dog that the feeling they have more control. This state of mind will be noticed by the dog and better behaviour will result whether be from the dog learning it can't pull or whether be from the confidence being shown be the handler

im not saying that faith is enough, im saying that i think a dog, if reared properly, will have no need of any aids other than a lead and collar to be kept under control.

Now, after all the nonsense, lets get back on track, this lead/collar has helped me walk my dog with no discomfort to her and no discomfort for me, I see that as a win/win, some may see it as cruel(I dont) some may have better qualities than me when it comes to pet dogs(good luck to you) but at the end of it all, I'm only giving a pointer to something that has helped me and hopefully others! make love not flame!

There is a UNIVERSAL statement that is widely accepted by all dog owners.

"There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners"

So you can speak to your dog? Go to the pub with a leather belt tied around your face and nose mate and see what you think of it.
