My brother is the computer wiz of the house and the other day he learnt how to send look alike emails..he doesnt do it of course but he sent me a test one..
It looked as if it was from lloyds bank..it even said at the top sender lloyds bank uk and looked just as if it was genuine..
Not sure how he did it but it looked amazing..he even did a ebay one but hasnt tried sending it yet..
He is trying to make his own web browser..it is ie stripped to bits..just changing title, help menu etc..

Normally get one or two of these a week , mc affee or microsoft phising filters flag them up 9 out of 10 times .
For the odd one that slips the net , trust your instincts , don't even open them , bin them .
Also , if you report them to the legit companies , they track and shut them down .

my mate nearly sent a phone he was selling to an adress in nigeria ,someone in america had said they had paid for the phone via pay pal ,but he smelt a rat and called paypal and they had no details of the transaction
the scammers even sent him an e/mail with service@paypal.
its worth remembering paypal will never ask you for any account info or tracking info via an email.

I am surprised that people as still 'learning' about this kind of e-mail that looks like its from Paypal or e-bay or bank or whatever.

I know I receive 4/5 different banks a week asking for my details to be confirmed... I only bank with one bank....

I learned a long time ago to use something like 'Spamarrest' to filter out all these emails... 2. to never ever give anyone any of your personal information... not even your name... by email or by telephone... you should not give your personal information to anyone that rings you up .... you dont know who they are.. or where they are really calling from... so be careful.

                cheers

i also got one of these emails. i have never used paypal. have never signed upto it. makes me wonder where these people are getting their information from. if they're just being supplied information by somebody who works for paypal it makes sense but as i am not a member nor have i ever been it doesn't make any sense

it easy to do the sender email to match whom ever you wish, all based on the SMTP headers . The To field can be anything, doesnt necessary have to to be the email address - its the reply to field in a SMTP header that denotes who to send the message back to
