How long should a sofa/settee last

We bought two 3 seater settee's about 2 years ago from argos, one of them has gone, something snapped and it's like sitting in a bucket seat now.
what I want to know before I make a complaint, how long should a settee last,
the Sales of Goods Act 1979, says something should be, "fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time",
so have I got a decent claim under this law.

You should still be covered under the sale of goods act. Try consumer direct site. I also found this page this makes for an interesting read. argos sofa falling apart - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums HTH.

Sorry mate anything you buy at Argos is just not going to last.as someone who reupholsters and repairs sofas for a living I won't even consider recovering stuff from Argos as I know they are crap and customers don't deserve to be fooled twice.you only get what u pay for.good luck with your claim.

I've been in touch with them, and they want an accredited upholsterer to make a report, they will refund the cost if there is a case to answer,
do you know what's the cost of getting a report done and where's the best place to find an accredited upholsterer, cheers.

Look in the yellow pages for someone close to you and ring around to get a price,it should not be too expensive.

gotta agree id never buy a sofa from argos. id expect a good sofa to last at least 6 or 7 years. do you have accidental damage on your house insurance and could blame one of the wains for trampoleening the sofa
