True though isn't it ? No matter what the subject is wether it be about tradition, politics, law, immigration or even something unimportant like the current Xbox360 vs Playstation 3 console "war"....if you have an opinion and you state it, you always get "fanboys" or do gooders who cannot wait to jump down your throat and then say they aren't fanboys or do gooders themselves even though they quite obviously are.....and in the end you almost feel as though you daredn't form an opinion and state it because you do get nowt but grief for it - now the question is.....are we not allowed to excercise freedom of speech and state our own opinions in modern society ? or are we all meant to be blind sheep that fall in line because that's the popular or politically correct thing to do ?
Are people not allowed to state their opinions anymore ?

I have you three marked down as troublemakers. I think you have broken some of the many PC instructions.
Unless off course you are an Illegal Immigrant, incarcerated or any other of the thousands of 'priveliged' people.
Any infraction of the rules by an able bodied, hard working or redundant law abiding member will not be tolerated.
I will punish you individually.

@ Mr Pumpy there actually is a story behind my rant
....I got banned off another forum just (and only) because I stated my opinion and the admin there had the opposite opinion and didn't like it so like a total dickhead he disrespected me - so I had a do with him and then after that I stated my opinion again nowt to do with him and he banned me for it....bellend. So anyway we aren't allowed to voice our opinions in life anywhere anymore so it seems.....~~~~ them all is what I say they can all go bollocks - if they can't accept the fact that people have different opinions in life then they shouldn't have the right or freedom to comment on it.
Still I'm glad I can state my opinions freely here at least!

Same thing happened to me and when i joined here i met other members of that forum who had been banned for giving an opinion. Wonder if it's the same forum
, i bet it is.

THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

So you're not angry at society as a whole for not being able to voice your opinion, just one person?
are we not allowed to excercise freedom of speech and state our own opinions in modern society ?The other peoples replies to your opinion is their opinion. You created the realm where you can't voice your own opinion based on your perception of that event. Which is of course not true in society.if you have an opinion and you state it, you always get "fanboys" or do gooders who cannot wait to jump down your throat and then say they aren't fanboys or do gooders themselves even though they quite obviously are.....and in the end you almost feel as though you daredn't form an opinion and state it because you do get nowt but grief for it
People are always going to disagree...that's a fact of life. Depending on the person you are, you will either be willing to defend your opinion and try to make others see the way you see or make your point and be happy to sever ties with the conversation knowing you've made an impact.Comment

@Bulld0g no it's not the same place although I've heard stories of that place!
Same principle though.....
@Devilfish no I was just making a point that people should be allowed to state their opinions whatever they are however they like and be respected for their opinion rather than be burned at the stake for it.....that's the point I was making differing opinions is one thing but respect is another. Funny thing with the do gooders is that when someone puts their opinion across that they don't like they end up acting worse than the people or point they are trying to protect! hypocrites.
I am discontent with society though because you can't freely state an opinion anymore without backlash.....either from the do gooders or the pc brigade and backlash is exactly what it is, and the backlash is all down to a lack of respect for the other person's opinion or lack of respect in general, that's what makes most do gooder types hypocrites - which is obviously my opinion which I feel is a fact. Normally I say I could be wrong but I don't think I am on this one.....
Quick example, it's apparently racist to call an Indian a paki and a black person a nigger....so if you do that you're a racist according to society in general, BUT it's perfectly alright to call a homeless person or begger a tramp and yet it's the exact same principle of looking down on somebody by calling them what they are in a single derogetory word at the end of the day......except one makes you a racist apparently and the other is perfectly okay even though it's the same principle - you tell me where's the logic in that ?
PS
For the record I'm not a racist and I know it's wrong to call black people and indian people nigger and paki respectively as they are derogetory words but if somebody chose to call them that doesn't make that person a racist. Racism is hatred of somebody or physical abuse purely for the color of their skin and nothing else....since when did it become about other things ?
That's another point I'm making those "racist words" don't constitute racism but they are derogatory. Remember how calling a homeless bloke a tramp is acceptable in society but yet it's the same principle when you think about it. It's got nowt to do with racism.
So hypothetically speaking I can call a beggar a tramp 1000 times and it's alright, but the second I call somebody a paki or a nigger I'm branded a racist....which is total bollocks in and of itself because those words don't constitute racism and yet according to society I might aswell be a skinheaded curb stomper because of the choice of the "racist" or derogetory word used and it's a totally inaccurate and an even more offensive comeback is all that is basically - which is what that is really when you strip away everything else - a comeback.
I bet there's alot more racists about nowadays than there were 20 years ago because seemingly the meaning of the word racism and what it means to be a racist has changed apparently. I say again how does that happen ? you're either a racist or your not....time shouldn't change the meaning - again it's public perception. Calling people nigger or paki is a derogetory and disrespectful word....having problems with different cultures or way of life is ignorance.... but Racism is distaste of a person for the color of their skin, that is what makes people racist it always has been and it's never been about anything else.
By the way the discussion I'm having here and the points I'm making were not the reason I was banned from another forum that I mentioned earlier in case you were wondering, in fact that was to do with my honest take on the PS3 vs 360 console "war" basically and ultimately I was banned for it, as laughable and childish as that is....hence my point here not just about that but many other things aswell about how you aren't allowed to voice an opinion without backlash anymore which you don't need me to tell you is totally hypocritical and disrespectful not to mention completely ridiculous.Last edited by Raven; 9 March, 2009, 17:11.Comment

No... Racism has NOTHING to do with the colour of your skin.
For instance, if I was a football manager and iI had a choice of 2 players; one was joey barton for ?100,000 and the other was david villa for ?50,000. Let say that I didnt buy david villa because he was spanish... THATS RACIST.
The clues in the name, its hatred because of the persons RACE not their hue.
ooh! you said it again..! no, racism is hatred of the race!
the point i think you're making is that somebody didnt like your opinion on something and banned you for it.
I believe that was over the top (although i don't know what your opinion entailed)
However no it seems that you are not respecting THAT persons opinion...
its swings and roundabouts mate..
this is just my opinion
except the part about racism, thats fact!

I disagree mate, in your example how is it racism if someone prefers English over Spannish ? that's not racism.....you ask anybody off top of their head what is racism and they will most likely say to not like someone for their skin color.....granted it is a highly charged topic nowadays to ask what racism is or what constitutes it....and it shouldn't be because it is fairly black and white when it comes to racism (no pun intended)....like I said anything else is to do with other things but that wouldn't be racism.....your response only proved my point that racism means to dislike someone for the color of their skin but nowadays people interpret that with absolutely everything and it's wrong and inaccurate.
In your example to dislike someone for their nationality alone is not racism it's ignorence plain and simple....like I said disliking different culture or way of life which obviously includes nationality is ignorence not racism. Racism is to dislike someone for skin color.
I hate to say it but your response only proved every point I made mate.Last edited by Raven; 9 March, 2009, 18:59.Comment

some people are racist about skin colour some about nationality, unfortunately racism is here to stay it will never go awayI disagree mate, in your example how is it racism if someone prefers English over Spannish ? that's not racism.....you ask anybody off top of their head what is racism and they will most likely say to not like someone for their skin color.....granted it is a highly charged topic nowadays to ask what racism is or what constitutes it....and it shouldn't be because it is fairly black and white when it comes to racism (no pun intended)....like I said anything else is to do with other things but that wouldn't be racism.....your response only proved my point that racism means to dislike someone for the color of their skin but nowadays people interpret that with absolutely everything and it's wrong and inaccurate.

All's I'm saying is that racism is to do with the color of skin.....you can't call hatred of nationality racism because that is not what racism is.....hatred of nationality and different culture like I said earlier is simply ignorance not racism. And that racism nowadays seems to be perceived as a hundred different things which is inaccurate.
Like I said paki/nigger/tramp = derogatory and disrespectful remark....not racism.
I don't know what to call this one but disliking other nationalities/cultures or way of life is not racism rather pure ignorence....English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh are not different races at all as we are all either black or white or whatever but we may or may not have slightly different culture or way of life I don't know but to dislike one of them nationalities or any nationality for that matter is not racist at all it's just totally ignorent.
Disliking somebody for their skin color IS racism.
I don't see (or agree) how anything else can be construed as racism when it quite clearly isn't. In fact I find it quite offensive.
My opinions are what they are but this is just how I see it.....certainly when I was growing up racism was simply to dislike a person for them having different skin color, which may explain alot but I don't see how half the stuff nowadays is racist when it can be categorised as something far more accurate.....as I've just stated.Last edited by Raven; 9 March, 2009, 19:46.Comment
