    late trains/flights

Just wondering where I would stand if a train that was late meant me missing a flight?
In the last month I have been absolute last minute due to late trains. Wondering if I could claim off the train company.
The last time I was late it cost me ?400+ with a new flight, train etc.
    Can anyone help?

Why not take out a yearly travel insurance, I'm sure that covers you if late

I've ended up missing connections because of late trains many times.
The last couple of times, the train has gotten me into Nuneaton and Birmingham at such a time that I had missed the last train to Tamworth.
At these times, the train companies are obliged to get you home at their own cost which, in my case, was the cost of a taxi from the aforementioned sh*tholes to my aforementioned hometown of yore.

            I hate trains.

In the same way, I would assume that they are also responsible for you missing your flight and are liable for recompense.
Although you can bet your life they will try to get out of it if they can.

"well you should have got up earlier and planned your journey properly."

"it's not our fault that you've paid over the odds for a ticket and get next to f**k all in return for your money."

"oh, alright, moaner, we'll refund your train ticket but nothing else."

            I hate trains.

In either case, It's most likely not a simple case of filling in a form and expecting a cheque. It could well be a job for a solicitor.

To be honest, I think they include the possible price of taxis and such when they charge you the travel (un)fare.

I saw a documentary last year. It was Jeremy Paxman rattling on about trains. he pointed out that, statistically, trains these days run little better than they did 100+ years ago.

Did I mention that I hate trains? well I do.

Whatever the outcome, I think that the next time you see a train parked up at a station, you're more than justified to hop off the platform and let its tyres down.

Just don't do it to any train that I may be 'relying' on cuz that's just a c**ts trick.

Edit: Found this with my Googlegoggles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/8695687-post9.html

Looks like you may be up s**t street without legal action. The moral is probably that you shouldn't put too much faith in the trains and be prepared to spend the night at the airport if necessary.

            Stupid trains.

Whenever the train is late, goto the conductor and ask for a letter for the late train, fill it in and send it off with train ticket, depending how late depends how much refund they give, over an hour is normaly 100%, sorry never tried to claim for missed flight.

Well Xant14 is VIP member, so there should be NO late planes or trains, for ANY DK member, UNLESS there free unlimited WIfI on ALL trains and platforms.

I bought wifi on train last time.. only so I could book my seat on the plane.. for some reason firefox wouldnt connect to the log in screen, so I used internet explorer
Was halfway thru and it disconnected, so I couldnt get online again.
I was forced to accept any seat.. crammed up against a fit danish olympic athelete as it happened... this one... probably.
