    its all well and good....

Its all well and good that each country celebrates its own national day. But why does scotland celebrate st.patricks day (never understood that)

but more importantly why doesn't england celebrate st.georges day????

St Patricks day isn't Scottish as you know m8 but we like a good party and quite often just join in!

We've got all these to celebrate too Scottish Festival and Celebrations

On a more serious note. There are a lot of Scottish decendants in Ireland due to the hightland clearances when all the hightlanders got shipped off to Ireland to free the land up for sheep n farming n stuff. Then there was the potatoe famine in Ireland and a lot of Irish came back to live in Scotland. Basically there are close ties between both countries.

you asked "but more importantly why doesn't england celebrate st.georges day????"

I don't know but Scotland doesn't have a holiday for StAndrews day either and it isn't that widely celerated

i can see that as scotland and ireland are both celtic countries that the scots have a right to celebrate a celtic saints day.
but this doesnt answer the question as to why england goes mad for st patricks day but ignores st george!?
whats to celebrate anyway? st patrick got rid of snakes

            nice one!!!

I think St George has a real problem. his flag, the Cross of St George, was also the flag of the Crusades. hence it is politically incorrect to display it. the PC crowd also point out he was Turkish, not English. odd they should stoop to Racism to make their point don't you think?
