Its amazing how quickly we forget the worst terrorist attack America had ever witnessed. I felt sick and upset as i drove my van when radio 1's Mark Radcliffe made a radio broadcast that the twin towers had been attacked, i had to pull over and everything else came second place on that terrible day. Personally i thought a 3rd world war had started. Where were you, and what was you doing when this terrible attack happened ??

I was off work sick, at the time I worked for a news company in the city of london so had access to some pretty good coverage.
More freaky though was the fact that my boss and I were supposed to be at a meeting in New York that day, it had been pushed back for some reason. We ended up getting one of the first flights into New York after they re-opened the airport. Best. Flight. Ever. We had almost the entire plane to ourselves (from memory there were about 10 passengers on our plane), there were probably more flight attendants than passengers hence pretty amazing service and a choice of any row of seats you wanted on the plane.
Post landing it was a bit more, well, grim... National guard everywhere. Still military aircraft (helicopters and jets) buzzing about. The site of the towers was still on fire and they were still digging for bodies, they hadn't yet erected any screens or fences. Everything downtown was covered in dust and lots of shops shut or boarded up. We had our meetings, but they weren't very productive. Most people there were either in shock or very angry. Lost a few colleagues from the US that day too. Overall, quite sad

There were other posts made which have been deleted. The comment wasn't made about your post m8.
THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

That was a strange day.
I'd been partying the night before & would usually crawl out of my pit around noon. But that night I crashed on the sofa.
That morning I woke early and put the tv on. Normally I would roll over & go back to sleep, but not this day. I turned on & went straight to BBC 24 News.... About 3 minutes before the second plane hit.
The whole day was spent watching the news.
That day I started to believe in 'The Force'. Something made me wake early & put the news on, I had never done it before...or since that day.Canker

A think a lot of people stopped and just froze that day, unless you are a politician in which case you use it for your own needs.
Sept 11: 'a good day to bury bad news' - Telegraph
Yep that's the standard our beloved politicians are willing to sink to and they wonder why we don't trust them.
A was at work going through a plan with a customer, we had Sky News on with the volume down when my boss burst into the office and turned the volume up.
The meeting with the customer was scheduled for 30min, 4 hours later we were all still fixed to the telly..
The phone hardly rang that day and the people who did phone, didn't know what had happened.
We were debating at first, my boss couldn't believe it was terrorists and then the second one hit and there was no doubt it was terrorists.
My customers wife works in the Hilton in Glasgow and he was straight on the phone after the second tower was struck demanding she come home for the day.
That's how much fear it struck into people, he told me that if they can hit the towers then any tall building could be a target and the Hilton was one of the tallest in Glasgow.
My boss pointed out that they might collapse, a thought he was mad and a remember saying that they would have predicted this type of scenario, no way can they fall down.
A couldn't believe my eyes when the first tower went down, like everyone else my next thought was when will the second go down...
You say its amazing how quickly we forget, nobody will ever forget that day mate for various reasons.
The main reason being that it happened in our lifetime and was captured on live news television, that covers the shock factor of 9/11.
Then comes the after coverage that shows horrible scenes of people jumping off the towers and phone calls made form trapped victims, that covers the tragic factor.
Then comes the memorial service, that covers the sad and reflection factor..
I have nothing but sympathy for the American people and their families who were victims of this vile, coward attack and the fact that they need to relive it every year.
We know the news will report it and that each year it will be highlighted but was there a real need to make films and stupid documentaries about it.
This is what i mean.
TV review: The Twins of the Twin Towers and George W Bush: The 9/11 Interview | Television & radio | The Guardian
The media have destroyed the dignity of the people to cash in and make a fast profit, it really saddens me so a cant imagine how the victims families feel.
Then we had Bush who had the power to bomb the living hell out of whoever he saw as a threat and lets not get into the conspiracy world.
My point is nobody will ever forget 9/11 as we live with it everyday and its repercussions will affect us for generations to come..."Windows - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition."Comment

i was on nights the night before.I remember the missus waking me up to watch the new's just after the first plane hit.I felt sick when i seen the second hit on Tv.I still cant imagine how it must of felt for them people on the planes knowing they were going to hit them towers then the other plane in the Pentagon and the plane that crashed when the people fought with the hijacker's.But what i still cant get to grips with is watching them people jumping out of the windows in the tower's.An awfull day in History all down to a few mad people thinking they was doing a gods work. What God would wish that.Comment

was stood at my machine in a steel factory when it came on the news, mid afternoon here in uk and could not remember the time difference between here and new york,my first thoughts were if the people who worked in the twin towers were actually at work or on their way to work.i obviously hoped it was the latter.
listening to it on the radio made it seem too surreal, remember finshing work and getting home to see it on the news where the full horror of the devastation was plain to see.
awful beyond belief and will never be forgotten.Comment
