    Vodafone customer services, unhelpful retards

    I don't know if this is a problem with all mobile network customer services, or just Vodafone, but they just don't want to help you...just sell you sh!t you don't need.

    My issue involves a Vodafone branded 3G dongle. It's not been used for nearly 2 years, so the SIM has been deactivated.

    All I wanted was the SIM activating, no doubt with a new number.

    It took about 4 minutes of explaining why I don't have a number, account details or anything else they wanted before they would help. That's not because the call centre was in India, she was british & understood the English language like a native should.
    Not once did they ask for the SIM number, or take it off me when I offered it.

    She then told me they cannot issue new mobile numbers. What!!!! I worked in the industry & know fine well new numbers can be issued when activating SIM cards.
    But she was adamant they couldn't do it. So I basically accused her of forcing me to go & get a new pre-pay SIM to put into the dongle.
    Direct quote... "That won't work. Dongles will only work with the SIM card they are supplied with."

    What a load of BS! For those who don't know, I unlock mobile phones & 3G dongles. I know I can put any vodafone SIM card into that dongle & it will work. I can also unlock the dongle & put any SIM card for any network worldwide in it & it will work.

    After I explained this is a less than patient & understanding tone she came back with this....

    "The earlier dongles with only work with the original SIM cards. You will have to buy a new dongle which will cost you ?30."

    Are they all brain dead? After being told contrary to her statement she still tried to tell me I'd have to buy a new dongle!!


    Has anyone else had dealings like this with Vodafone, or any other network? Was she just a retard, or are all call centre staff like that now?

    Trying to sell a new dongle when it's not needed is just ripping the p!ss.

    If it's any consulation, sadly i can't divulge EXCAT information.

    We sent a 'control unit' to a 'specalist repair company', naturally we had a go ourselves first, but sadly it was a 'component failure' - so sent the unit off to a 'popular repair company' -

    Who have called us to say "The chip has fried, because the other chip next to it has fried, it has a ?15 box on it, which is fried and has fried the other chip. We can't fix it, thats ?39.99 + VAT, for telling you it's fried.

    That is fine, but as a NON paying VIP DK Member, it was a load of cr@p.
    I tested it with my own Meaty Hands before posting it off!

    It "Half worked" - there telling us it is 100% dead.

    The guy was not in an Indain control centre, but thought he might be better off working in a Zoo as an Xzibit

      Canker don't get upset with these retards just take you're business to a more caring company and stick it right up them.

        I did. At the end of the call I told her I'll just unlock it & get a 3 sim card. She had no reply to that so I hung up.

          They are useless.
          Just trying to talk to talk to a vodaphone rep is a nightmare.
          I am on freedom freebie ATM.
          They won't even put me through to an adviser because I have no credit even though I have loads talk time.
          Also got a text today saying it have used my days allowance and will be charged so much per megabyte for the remainder of the month.
          How they gonna bill me if I am paygo?

          Phone is unlocked now and giff gaff sim standing by. ..

            Good choice canker I've been a 3 customer for 2 years now after I unlocked me iPhone.
            Their all you can eat data with minutes and texts packages are excellent value and their coverage first class. can't say anything about customer services as I've never had to call on them.

              3's customer services are a joke. It's an Indian call centre where even when you tell them exactly what you want to do, they still don't understand.

              It took me over 30 minutes to get third party access sorted out on a new contract. It should of taken 2 minutes.

              The 3 network coverage does have some big gaps in it. They also don't repair masts quick enough. I left 3 after 6 months of intermittant coverage caused by two faulty masts that cover this area. Everyone within the 6 mile coverage of the two masts had next to no signal.

              But, their all you can eat data is what I'm looking at. Just as long as there's coverage in the new shop location.
