its personal choice in the end mate. I toyed between the two brands and ended up buying the LG as I was advised that they are the only manufacturer who will replace the TV if it arrives or blows a single pixel within the warranty period, the others (apparently) will only replace after three pixels are blown. (could be bull but it worked for me)
I use mine a lot, i do not power it off i just put it standby as it uses so little power in this mode, i do this cos I have had a few big screens fail before as they did not seem to like the power surge from regular full power downs/ups. Its take more carbon to make a replacement screen and ship it to the UK than it does to run it in standby for a 7 year plus lifetime.. (can't remember where i found that little bit of environmental info, will have see if i can find that link)
