Do I think the license is worth the money? Hard one that. I do believe that the BBC provides a good service from local radio to TV stations. It does provide a wide variety of shows, some of which I am not interested in, and some that I am. I do believe that if it was left to market forces, we would have more X factor/reality tv style shows that we have now, as executives believe this is what the masses wants and is what will bring advertisers in.

Am I willing to pay a license in order to have a wide variety of shows, then my answer is yes. Is the license I am paying worth the money.... jurys out on that one.

Spot on mate, its a pain as its enforced and a think that's what pi**** most people off, a suppose if the quality was as good as they say then why not make it pay per view.
They do make good original programs which satellite and cable just don't do well, the BBC is world renown for quality and is usually reliable and accurate though a don't know about impartial.
There coverage of sports has been reduced to highlight packages which is a shame as they cover live events well.
A remember meeting a American guy who was at our work and he was shocked at watching the golf for 3 hrs with no breaks and he said he would gladly pay for advert free tv..
Most people don't think its worth it but when you think about it, its not bad value...

your dead right hoppy, its because you have to have it thats the thing that really gets me,and i wonder how many people would subscribe to it if it was pay for view.I admit i do like some of the shows but the same applies to all the channels and i could do without the bbc no problem as theres loads of others who cover the news etc just as well, and while we are on the subject,i do not need two or three people to talk over each other trying to tell me the news either...
