I've had a nectar card for years.

Initially got it when they had an offer with Barclaycard, you got 2 points for every ?1 you spent. I figured out that if you joined one of those casino or bingo sites, deposited about ?500 then withdrew the lot, it counted as a transaction on the credit card and you got points for it! I absolutely raped it and I think I've got about 45,000 points now. That partnership soon stopped.

Now they have a partnership with American Express and you get a similar pounds to points ratio. So I use the Amex for buying online, shopping and petrol. BP and Sainsbury give you nectar points, use the Amex and twice the amount of points.

You can also register your nectar card on ebay so you get points for everything you buy. If you're buying online, make sure you go through the nectar website and you'll get points.

I had a card for total petrol garages, bear in mind i buy ?5000 in fuel each year and still only managed to get a free ticket to alton towers with the points. I dont bother now, had an investigation by tax man and he told me how much fuel i had used because he knew i had a total card and knew how much i had spent by how many points i had. so if you self-employed and like to cook your books beware they watch for these things!!!!
