    Laser eye treatment

Needing new glasses and the price is going to be around ?350.00 for the ones i want .

whats peoples opinion on laser eye treatment , any one on here had it done or know anyone who has had it done .

i went to see about it a few years back . advertise at ?305 per eye but suprise suprise for my eyes it would be ?750.00 a eye .

also been told that if you get it done you may need glasses in a few years would this be right .

    thanks

yes mate, going to have it done myself in a coupkle of months when i get back from my hols.. My mum had hers done last year after wearing glasses and contact lenses for 50 years, now she needs neither of them. I couple of guys I work with have had theirs done as well and all have said it was the best move to make...

To me its a no brainer, considering the cost and inconvenience of glasses (you will need more than one).. Even if you need to have them doen again in 20 years its still worth it...

Go for it mate, you will not regret it...

Don`t know much about whats happens but i`ve a brother inlaw that had it done 8 years ago and no problems, no glasses or contacts since. You could say he never looked back!! The cost was 1000 euro an eye but well worth it he reckons.

We payed about ?2k per eye I think for my mum,, mine is about ?1095 per eye (but I only need one eye doing). No, she just had sunglasses for a few days then all fine.. she needs nothing, nothing at all now, she is a 66 year old pensioner who has worn glasses since she was 14 mate.. I talked her into it after going for a check up myself,,, she also found she had cataracts building and was told they would take away her driving licence as well soon.. No she has no problems, her vision is now 20/20...

i would get my eyes done in a heartbeat, but unfortunately i have glaucoma and they wont do it. it costs me a fortune on prescription sunglasses for wearing riding my motorcycle, and im always losing them. just wish i could get them done then i could buy 5 euro sunglasses.

I think there all about the same, we did my mums via the nhs (her choice, thats why it cost more).. As for your mate,, sunglasses when its sunny is not anything bad, if he had to wear a welding mask i would worry....

both of my brothers have had it done, one paid about ?1900 for both eyes and the other went for the more expensive operation (something about it being tailored for each eye) and he paid about ?2500 for both eyes.

they wore sunglasses for one day afterwards and that was it.

both now have 20/20 vision and have said its the best thing they have done.

I personally know a couple opticians and I have asked them for their advice on where to go. I have been advised that you are best not to go to optical express. they both recommended a company called Ultralase and they have branches nationwide and a branch in Charing Cross.

                        Price is dependant on perscription.

The length of time the laser treatment lasts is still a bit of a mystery and can vary quite a lot. It depends on how much your eyes deteriorate as you get older

they said complications were rare but you should be told of this before you get the laser treatment

Seemingly there is a 2 page spread in yesterdays daily mail worth reading.

If you need glasses for distance and glasses for reading it will only fix the distance side of things you will still need glasses for reading.

i wear glasses and scam it out, i go into a shop and try on some, find the ones i like and then look at the extortionate pricetag and say **** that.

being a tight fist however i just put the glasses into an ebay search and pick up some new frames for ?5 to ?30 and have lenses installed at the opticians.

ive never payed over ?75 for a pair of designer glasses

Worn glasses since a kid and after a number of people i know had it done , considered it myself , but after one friend had complications , meaning he now needs eydrops for life and being
told by my long term optician " you only get one chance and one pair of eyes" (scaremonger tactics ?) , i decided to pass .
